The Pyth Network Introduces GMCI 30 Index Price Feed

The Pyth Network continues its mission of providing global smart contract developers with access to financial data. In line with this vision, the Oracle Network has unveiled the GMCI 30 Index Price Feed, offering over 60 blockchain ecosystems access to the GMCI crypto market price index, also known as the “GM 30.”

Integration with the GMCI 30 feed and all Pyth 540+ price feeds is permissionless, allowing DeFi applications to operate based on the real-time price of the GM 30. This blog explores the design of the GM 30 while expanding the index’s coverage to multiple blockchains through Pyth.

Understanding the GMCI 30 Index

GMCI, a specialist index provider in the digital assets sector, focuses on creating unique indices to onboard investors, financial institutions, and market analysts into Web3 capital markets. The GMCI 30 Index, or GM 30, was introduced this year to track the performance of the 30 largest digital assets by market capitalization, offering a global perspective on cryptocurrency markets.

Maarten Botman, CEO of GMCI, expressed excitement about the collaboration with Pyth Network to stream GMCI index prices, enhancing data accuracy and reliability for users.

GMCI 30 on Pyth Price Feeds

Developers can now access real-time price feeds for the GMCI 30 seamlessly through Pyth Price Feeds, which leverage Pyth Network’s data provider network. Alongside digital assets indices like GMCI 30, Pyth Price Feeds also offer key indices for traditional markets.

Ben Yorke, Ecosystem VP at WOO, highlighted the value of integrating the GMCI 30 index and emphasized ongoing collaboration with Pyth on new indices.

Adoption of Pyth’s GMCI 30 Feed

Smart contract developers in ecosystems like EVM, Move, Cosmos, and Bitcoin now have access to a reliable price source for the GMCI 30 across 60+ blockchains. DeFi protocols are integrating with the Pyth GMCI 30 feed, including platforms like Bluefin, D8X Exchange, Pingu Exchange, Vela Exchange, and Protocol Horizon.
