Ethereum-based operating system ethOS has introduced dGEN1, a specialized hardware device for interacting with blockchain dApps and running a light client. The dGEN1 features a built-in browser and wallet, along with a dedicated screen that displays transaction notifications and metadata during network interactions.
ethOS, derived from LineageOS and an Android fork, incorporates its own Nimbus light client to ensure that user data is securely verified when using blockchain dApps, eliminating the need for trusted third-party RPCs. The built-in browser of ethOS supports IPFS and .eth domains.
The dGEN1 device is now available for pre-order through minting an NFT on the Base Layer 2 network for 0.2 ETH ($520). The company plans to start shipping devices in the second quarter of 2025. As per Basescan, there are currently approximately 630 users holding NFTs.
