European cybersecurity firm Filigran has recently concluded a successful $35 million Series B funding round, with Insight Partners leading the investment alongside existing backers Accel and Moonfire. This latest round of funding comes on the heels of a $16 million Series A investment just a few months prior and will fuel the company’s growth, expansion, and product development efforts. The Series B funding will specifically support Filigran’s plans to expand in the US and Pacific regions, with a focus on advancing AI and data engineering product development.
Established in 2022, Filigran offers open-source platforms such as OpenCTI and OpenBAS within its eXtended Threat Management (XTM) suite. These platforms are designed to assist organizations in comprehensively understanding their threat landscape, detecting incidents, reducing response times, and developing long-term cybersecurity strategies.
Filigran’s solutions are utilized by a range of international corporations including Airbus, Marriott, Thales, Hermès, Rivian, and Bouygues Telecom. The company also serves public sector organizations such as the European Commission, the FBI, the New York City Cyber Command, US and Australian federal agencies, the Netherlands National Police Corps, and various European government ministries.
The company’s open-source initiatives are backed by a community of over 4,300 cybersecurity professionals and contributors. The XTM suite integrates OpenCTI to structure and operationalize threat intelligence, while OpenBAS leverages real-time threat data for security validation. These platforms offer insights into potential risks to help organizations bolster their cybersecurity defenses.
The funding secured by Filigran will facilitate the development of additional XTM solutions aimed at enhancing the suite with threat-driven risk assessment and deception to tackle emerging cybersecurity challenges.
Filigran’s CEO, Samuel Hassine, brings over 15 years of experience in cyber threat intelligence and crisis management to the company. CTO Julien Richard boasts over 20 years of experience in managing engineering teams and software development. Both leaders have held significant roles in prominent tech companies prior to joining Filigran.
“We are thrilled to have secured this Series B investment, which underscores the progress Filigran has made in a short period. Our goal is to make threat intelligence accessible and actionable for organizations, and this new funding will enable us to further that mission on a larger scale,” said Hassine.
Insight Partners’ Principal, Crissy Costa Behrens, commented, “Filigran has revolutionized how security teams approach threat intelligence with their open-source XTM suite powered by OpenCTI and OpenBAS. This investment will support their global expansion and product development.”
