STMicroelectronics is introducing a new development kit that simplifies the exploration of innovative applications for contactless near-field communication (NFC) technology. The kit features the advanced ST25R200 reader/writer IC, designed to enable strong wireless connections with low power consumption and precise controls for signal quality and power management.
The STEVAL-25R200SA kit for reader evaluation includes a compact ST25R200 board, multiple antennas for single, dual, and flexible designs, a 50-Ohm antenna interface, and programmable tags. This kit allows users to quickly prototype models for short-range wireless communications, ideal for device pairing, configuration settings, and product authentication across various industries.
The ST25R200 NFC reader is equipped with noise suppression receiver (NSR) technology for enhanced immunity to interference, even in close proximity to noise sources. It also features advanced analog front end (AFE), NFC-A/B (ISO 14443A/B), and NFC-V (ISO 15693) data framing capabilities.
With built-in enhanced low-power card detection (LPCD) and dynamic power output (DPO) control, the ST25R200 ensures a seamless user experience with consistent signaling during data exchanges. The reader operates over a wide power supply range and offers multiple power management modes for efficient energy usage.
The ST25R200 is currently in production in a compact 4mm x 4mm 24-pin TQFN package, suitable for small devices requiring contactless card functionality. Pricing for the IC starts at $1.99 for orders of 1000 pieces, making it an affordable solution for NFC integration.
The evaluation kit, STEVAL-25R200SA, is available for purchase through the eSTore at a budget-friendly price of $61.00, allowing engineers to easily incorporate NFC technology into their designs.
