Alibaba Cloud expands Thai presence with second data centre

Alibaba Cloud Strengthens Presence in Thailand with Second Data Centre Launch

Alibaba Cloud has expanded its footprint in Thailand by launching a second data centre to meet the increasing demand for cloud services in the country. This new facility complements Alibaba Cloud’s first data centre in Thailand, which opened in 2022, and is part of the company’s efforts to enhance its cloud infrastructure in Southeast Asia.

With the addition of the second data centre, Alibaba Cloud aims to provide scalable and disaster-resilient cloud solutions that comply with Thailand’s security and regulatory standards. Sean Yuan, vice president of international business at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering reliable and high-performance cloud services tailored to local businesses’ needs.

The latest launch brings Alibaba Cloud’s global footprint to 86 availability zones in 28 regions, solidifying its position as a leading player in the cloud market in Southeast Asia. The company has announced plans to expand further, including building a new cloud region in Mexico and making additional investments in Thailand, the Philippines, and South Korea.

Alibaba Cloud faces competition in Thailand’s cloud market, with Tencent and Amazon Web Services (AWS) already operating in the country. Microsoft and Google have also revealed plans to establish data centres in Thailand, reflecting the country’s growing importance as a digital hub in the region.

Security and regulatory compliance remain top priorities for Alibaba Cloud, which offers over 140 security and compliance accreditations worldwide. With two data centres now operational in Thailand, the company is well-equipped to provide businesses with secure and reliable cloud solutions as cloud adoption continues to grow in the country.

Overall, the expansion of Alibaba Cloud’s presence in Thailand highlights the increasing demand for cloud services and AI-powered solutions in the region. Businesses in Thailand can expect more options and enhanced infrastructure reliability as they leverage cloud technology for their operations.
