In an exciting update, Hong Kong is considering the potential of exploring gold tokenization and AI-blockchain integration to revolutionize finance and drive the digital economy forward.

The renowned Consensus Conference, the world’s largest cryptocurrency and Web3.0 event, commenced in Hong Kong on the 18th. This marks the first time in five years that the event has been hosted outside the United States. Xu Zhengyu, the Director of Hong Kong’s Financial Services and Treasury Bureau, announced the city’s exploration of gold tokenization and the advancement of digital finance to stimulate participation in the real economy.

Xu Zhengyu emphasized Hong Kong’s expanding role in the virtual asset market at the Consensus Conference, sharing groundbreaking developments that are shaping the future of finance.

He disclosed that Hong Kong is venturing into gold tokenization, a revolutionary concept that combines physical gold with blockchain technology to provide investors with enhanced flexibility and security, aiming to transform the financial market. Furthermore, the city is advocating for the integration of digital finance with the real economy, including facilitating cross-border payments. The convergence of AI with blockchain and Web3 technologies is also a key focus, bolstering Hong Kong’s digital infrastructure for the impending future.

In an interview with a local Hong Kong newspaper, Michael Lau, the chairman of Consensus Hong Kong, highlighted the region’s strategic advantages, such as the frequent capital flows in Asia and its proximity to major Asian markets, making it an ideal location for this year’s conference. He underscored Hong Kong’s well-defined regulatory framework and skilled workforce, which present significant growth opportunities in digital assets and Web3.0.

The three-day event is anticipated to attract 8,000 global participants from the cryptocurrency, blockchain, and Web3.0 sectors, converging to explore the future landscape of the virtual asset industry.
