Facebook-Developed MoveVM Gets Closer to Ethereum Deployment With Public Mainnet Beta Launch

Exciting news in the world of blockchain as Movement’s public mainnet is gearing up to launch in beta, marking a significant step towards implementing Movement Virtual Machine (MoveVM) on Ethereum.

The mainnet is scheduled to go live on Monday, bringing with it over $233 million in BTC, ETH, and MOVE tokens from Movement’s successful Cornucopia program.

The launch of Movement’s mainnet will enable smart contract deployment, opening up the network for all to build on and utilize for the first time, as announced by the Movement Network Foundation via email.

Originally developed by Facebook for its cryptocurrency endeavors, Move was repurposed after the project was scrapped in early 2022. This technology has since been leveraged to create layer-1 networks Sui and Aptos, with Movement Labs further enhancing the programming language to facilitate an Ethereum layer 2 solution.
