Veeam and HPE updates aim to streamline hybrid cloud recovery

HPE and Veeam have announced a new phase in their longstanding partnership, introducing updates to enhance data protection and recovery in mixed and hybrid cloud environments. This move comes as businesses are faced with managing legacy systems, virtual machines, and container platforms, all while navigating increased security requirements.

John Jester, Veeam’s chief revenue officer, emphasized the importance of trust, resilience, and availability in today’s business landscape. He stated, “Our strengthened partnership with HPE gives customers the agility and confidence to protect, recover, and utilize their data, regardless of its location.”

The companies are rolling out several new integrations as part of their joint portfolio. One focus area is the HPE Morpheus VM Essentials Software, with Veeam introducing a native integration plug-in for image-level backup of virtual machines on VM Essentials. This new feature aims to simplify data protection for mixed workloads without the need for additional custom configurations.

Additionally, HPE has validated Morpheus Enterprise Software container services as a Veeam-ready option, streamlining security for container-based workloads. The partnership also includes the deployment of HPE Private Cloud Business Edition alongside the Veeam Data Platform, offering a comprehensive data protection solution that eliminates the need for multiple tools.

Storage efficiency is a key theme of the updates, with Veeam Data Platform leveraging the latest version of HPE StoreOnce Catalyst to deliver significant data reduction for backups. This enhancement can lead to cost savings and improved data restore times for organizations operating in both cloud and on-premises environments.

Furthermore, the collaboration includes support for HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000, adding NVMe support and new snapshot integrations to enhance backup and recovery capabilities. The companies are set to release new reference architectures to ensure end-to-end immutability in the Alletra Storage MP line, reducing the risk of ransomware and data loss.

In addition to these technical updates, HPE and Veeam are offering new joint services focused on data resilience and disaster recovery capabilities. These services aim to help organizations assess their cyber resilience plans and address any gaps in their security posture.

Patrick Osborne, HPE’s senior vice president for Hybrid Cloud Technology Acceleration, highlighted the partnership’s goal of simplifying complexity for customers. He stated, “Together, we’re delivering unmatched resiliency, operational simplicity, and innovation for our customers.”

For enterprises managing diverse workloads across virtual, cloud, and container environments, the expanded partnership between HPE and Veeam signifies a move towards standardized data protection solutions that reduce risk and operational burden for IT teams.
