After an eventful year for the cryptocurrency industry, fresh data from CoinGecko sheds light on the diverse landscape of the most active blockchains by mindshare in 2025.
The ranking showcases the relative interest and engagement levels across various networks, offering valuable insights into the ecosystems that are gaining the most traction this year.
The data paints a picture of a changing landscape in 2025, with high-performance and application-centric blockchains capturing increasing attention, alongside established networks like Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC) continuing to play crucial roles in the crypto ecosystem.
Solana (SOL)
Solana (SOL) leads the pack with 26.79% of total mindshare, solidifying its position as the most popular blockchain for the second consecutive year. The ecosystem’s appeal lies in its fast transaction speeds, low fees, and thriving decentralized applications, memecoins, and high-throughput trading activities.
Notably, Solana’s mindshare has decreased by 12 percentage points from last year’s 38.79%, indicating a shifting landscape in the crypto space.
Base
Base secures the second spot with 13.94% mindshare, showcasing the rising prominence of Coinbase’s layer-2 network within the broader Ethereum ecosystem. Built on optimistic rollup technology, Base offers secure, low-cost transactions while leveraging Ethereum’s security features, driving developer interest and ecosystem engagement.
Ethereum (ETH)
