Tom Lee is optimistic about financial markets in 2026, foreseeing a choppy start to the year followed by a strong finish with markets in the green.
In an interview on CNBC, the head of research at Fundstrat predicts a year filled with joy, depression, and a rally. He compares it to 2025, which started poorly but ended on a positive note with a strong rally. Lee believes the market will test the new Fed, causing some fear initially.
Despite the initial challenges, Lee sees reasons to be hopeful. He mentions that tariffs are ‘anniversarying,’ the Fed is cutting rates, and the ISM could turn back above 50. Energy is one of his top sector picks for the year, along with other sectors that could see significant gains.
Lee also mentions the ‘Magnificent 7’ sectors that are expected to continue producing good earnings growth, as well as financials and small caps. He believes that overall earnings will improve, and the market could see positive movements.
