Grayscale’s ETHE Product Becomes First US Ethereum ETF to Deliver Staking Rewards To Investors

Grayscale has made history by distributing staking rewards to investors through its Ethereum Staking exchange traded fund (ETF), making it the first U.S. spot Ethereum exchange traded product to do so.

According to a press release by Grayscale, the Ethereum Staking ETF (ETHE) distributed staking rewards earned between Oct. 6 and Dec. 31, 2025, to shareholders. Shareholders will receive $0.083178 per share, with the payout scheduled for Jan. 6, 2026, based on holdings recorded as of Jan. 5.

Grayscale’s CEO, Peter Mintzberg, commented on this milestone, stating, “Distributing staking rewards to ETHE shareholders is a landmark moment, not just for Grayscale, but for the entire Ethereum community and ETPs at large. As the first Ethereum ETP in the U.S. to pass staking rewards through to investors, we’re reinforcing Grayscale’s role as an early leader in bringing new digital-asset capabilities into the ETP wrapper. Another sign that as the top digital asset-focused ETP issuer by AUM, we’re expanding innovations like staking into real investor outcomes.”

This distribution marks the first time a U.S. spot crypto ETP has directly passed staking rewards to investors. Grayscale introduced staking for its Ethereum products in October 2025, becoming the first issuer in the U.S. to do so. ETHE and the Grayscale Ethereum Staking Mini ETF (ETH) were renamed in January 2026 to reflect their staking functionality.

It is important to note that these products are not registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and do not have the same regulatory protections as traditional ETFs or mutual funds. Investments in these funds come with significant risks, including the potential loss of principal, and do not represent direct ownership of Ether.
