Abu Dhabi-based technology group G42 has partnered with a Vietnamese consortium to develop national-scale cloud and AI infrastructure in Vietnam, with up to $1 billion in commitments. The agreement, announced in Ho Chi Minh City, aims to support both public and private sector demands by building high-capacity data centers and cloud services.
This collaboration between G42, FPT Corporation, and the Viet Thai Group signifies Vietnam’s goal of becoming an “AI-native society” and a regional hub for artificial intelligence and cloud services in Southeast Asia. The initiative focuses on data sovereignty and digital resilience, ensuring critical information stays under Vietnamese law and control.
The framework agreement establishes a legal, financial, and regulatory foundation for deploying cloud and AI services in Vietnam, setting a path for infrastructure development and public cloud adoption at scale. Ali Al Amine, G42 International’s chief commercial officer, described the partnership as a new model for national AI transformation based on sovereignty, partnership, and purpose.
With Vietnam’s government and enterprise sectors in mind, the planned cloud capacity aims to support AI and cloud workloads domestically, emphasizing high-performance computing and AI-ready infrastructure. The consortium credits Hanoi for progressing towards regulations that encourage hyperscale cloud deployment and public cloud adoption, enabling large-scale cloud projects to thrive.
