Mantle, a platform focusing on distribution and liquidity in RWAs, has recently implemented the ERC-8004 standard on mainnet. This update brings a trust and identity framework for on-chain AI agents, enabling them to operate independently across various financial sectors.
The ERC-8004 standard introduces three on-chain registries:
- The Identity Registry assigns a unique NFT-based profile to each agent
- The Reputation Registry stores performance data that can be shared across platforms
- The Validation Registry offers cryptographic proof of completed tasks, including verification methods like stake-based or zero-knowledge
These mechanisms within the Mantle ecosystem enable agents to connect, verify credentials, and transact without being tied to a specific platform. The standard facilitates activities such as automated trading strategies with transparent track records, management of tokenized real-world assets, and bridging liquidity between traditional systems and blockchain protocols.
ERC-8004 is designed to work seamlessly with existing tools like the Model Context Protocol, Agent-to-Agent communication, and the x402 payment standard.
