Centrifuge and Pharos Tackle Onchain Distribution for Institutional Assets

Tokenization in the financial world has seen rapid growth, but distribution has lagged behind. Centrifuge and Pharos are on a mission to bridge this gap.

The collaboration between Centrifuge and Pharos aims to bring institutional-grade assets, such as tokenized U.S. Treasuries and AAA-rated structured credit, onto live and functional onchain environments.

Tokenization Was Just the Beginning. Distribution is Key.

While many institutional assets have been tokenized, they often remain idle due to fragmented access and shallow liquidity. Regulatory and operational barriers also hinder the deployment of dollar-denominated products onchain, especially in regions outside of the U.S. and Western Europe.

Centrifuge and Pharos are tackling this issue by developing a shared infrastructure focused on distribution, execution, and active utilization of assets, rather than just token representation.

Building a Strong Foundation

The partnership leverages Centrifuge’s asset standards and tokenization framework with Pharos’ execution-first Layer 1 architecture. Pharos acts as a liquidity and distribution layer for assets issued through Centrifuge, supporting direct access, institutional channels, high-throughput execution, and onchain asset management.

Instead of being static, tokenized assets can now circulate, integrate with DeFi protocols, and actively participate in open financial systems.

“Tokenization alone cannot solve the access and usability challenges,” said Bhaji Illuminati, CEO of Centrifuge Labs. “This partnership focuses on building the necessary distribution and infrastructure layer for institutional assets to thrive within onchain financial ecosystems.”

The Strength of Pharos

Pharos is designed as an inclusive Layer 1 solution for real-world asset activities, prioritizing operational efficiency over speculative throughput. Its architecture enables seamless institutional operations onchain through deep-parallel execution and modular design.

“The real challenge lies in infrastructure, not demand,” stated Wish Wu, CEO of Pharos. “This collaboration is all about creating an environment where institutional assets can actively participate in open and interconnected financial systems.”

Advancing Onchain Finance

The partnership between Centrifuge and Pharos signifies a significant step towards a more mature phase of onchain finance. It’s not just about tokenization anymore, but about providing the infrastructure needed for long-term engagement, liquidity, and composability of institutional assets.
