The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the DFINITY Foundation have recently joined forces to delve into the realm of sovereign cloud infrastructure and decentralized artificial intelligence for various public-sector projects. This collaboration aims to drive digital transformation within governments, civil society organizations, and UNDP initiatives. UNDP, a UN agency dedicated to sustainable development and public-sector support, has teamed up with DFINITY Foundation, a pioneer in decentralized cloud and blockchain infrastructure.
This partnership will revolve around three key areas. The SDG Blockchain Accelerator will see UNDP Country Offices experimenting with sovereign cloud infrastructure, AI software development, and decentralized AI applications for development initiatives. The Future of Work Academy will empower civil society organizations to design and trial their own applications, while the Government Blockchain Academy will collaborate with governments and public institutions to establish pilot frameworks aligned with local and national priorities.
These projects will leverage DFINITY’s Cloud Engines and Caffeine AI platform to assist organizations in constructing and managing applications within secure, locally governed digital environments. Additionally, the partners intend to research how these technologies can safeguard sensitive data, enhance digital resilience, and bolster local technical capabilities.
