Anchorage expands institutional custody to Etherlink, tokenized uranium

Anchorage Digital Bank, the pioneering federally chartered crypto bank in the United States, has recently expanded its custody support to include Etherlink and seven assets on the Tezos layer-2 network. Among these assets is xU3O8, a token that represents physical uranium.

Additionally, Anchorage now supports wrapped XTZ (WXTZ), liquid staking token stXTZ, stablecoins USDT, USDC, and USDSM, as well as wrapped Ether (WETH), as announced by the company to Cointelegraph.

This integration enables Anchorage’s institutional clients to securely custody assets issued on Etherlink, a layer-2 network compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine that settles on Tezos, within segregated accounts at the federally chartered bank.

xU3O8 provides ownership of physical uranium, offering investors exposure to the commodity without the need to handle or store it directly. With a current market cap just above $9 million, according to CoinMarketCap data.

While Anchorage is not the first institutional custodian to support xU3O8, in August 2025, digital asset custodian Hex Trust integrated Etherlink to provide custody for xU3O8 and other assets on the network.

Traditionally, gaining exposure to physical uranium has involved specialized intermediaries, extended settlement periods, and relatively high minimum investment sizes. Anchorage noted that tokenization now allows the commodity to be transferred and settled within minutes rather than weeks.
