Single Pair Ethernet Groups Merge to Form New Association

The Single Pair Ethernet System Alliance and SPE Industrial Partner Network have combined forces to establish the Single Pair Ethernet Association (SPE Association), uniting members from over 130 manufacturing and technology companies globally.

The merger of these two entities under the SPE Association will consolidate their memberships, technical endeavors, and industry initiatives pertaining to Single Pair Ethernet (SPE).

Unanimously approved by the leadership of both organizations, the SPE Association will concentrate on advancing, standardizing, implementing, and promoting SPE for industrial communication, automation, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications.

SPE utilizes a single twisted pair of wires to transmit Ethernet data and, when applicable, power. This technology, as opposed to traditional Ethernet cabling using multiple pairs, can decrease cable size and weight and fulfill connectivity needs in industrial settings.

The newly established association will provide a platform for manufacturers, technology firms, users, and researchers engaged with SPE. Its activities will encompass coordinating technical content, industry initiatives, and global efforts linked to the technology.

The merger announcement took place at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago, where the SPE Association is showcasing at Booth #236134. The organization is leveraging the event to introduce the new association and deliberate on SPE implementations for industrial automation and networking.
