This task involves handling the surge in traffic during peak voting periods leading up to the ceremony. In 2023, Hyve faced the challenge of ensuring a seamless experience for every British citizen wanting to cast their vote.
Utilizing their expertise in cloud technology, Hyve delivered a scalable and reliable solution by providing secure server infrastructure to host the NTAs’ online voting platform. The NTAs face a recurring challenge of dealing with a significant increase in website traffic during the voting window, which can overload servers, leading to crashes and disruptions in the voting process. This downtime can impact the credibility of the awards and raise concerns about the fairness of the event.
To address this challenge, Hyve developed a bespoke load-balanced cloud platform to handle the anticipated increase in traffic during the voting period. They increased server resources by 24 times during the voting windows and then scaled back to normal levels once the traffic subsided, reducing costs for the customer.
