Flowra has launched its Open Orderflow Auction for the Solana ecosystem, introducing a competitive block-building framework aimed at democratizing the network’s MEV market.
The framework is designed to enable competitive bidding for block building, enhance price discovery in Solana’s MEV market, and assist validators in maximizing revenue. Registered searchers can now participate in a transparent auction to compete for transaction inclusion, moving away from closed orderflow channels. Flowra has made the Open Orderflow Auction accessible to validators and searchers, with plans to onboard more institutional-grade validators in the near future.
Open Orderflow Auction: Revolutionizing Solana’s MEV competition
Flowra’s auction transforms the way transaction inclusion is offered to searchers by allowing participants to openly bid for blockspace access instead of relying on closed channels. This model is expected to foster increased competition for transaction inclusion and enable validators to capture a larger share of the MEV value.
Solana validators play a crucial role in processing transactions and contributing to network consensus. Flowra’s framework focuses on enhancing the validator layer by introducing a new approach to block construction and blockspace allocation. The company aims to enhance transaction transparency, value distribution, and alignment of incentives among validators, users, and developers.
Early validator testing demonstrates heightened block activity
Initial results from testing Flowra’s setup on a single validator show a 20.6% increase in compute units per block. During the test, the Flowra-enabled validator’s activity rose from 84% to 101% of the network average. Flowra also observed higher block fees compared to similar validator software.
The setup achieved 100% block production and 99.999% block engine uptime, based on early testing conducted by Flowra. These results, obtained from a single validator, are guiding the company as it expands the onboarding process for its Open Orderflow Auction across institutional-grade validators within the Solana ecosystem.
Programmable block policy enhances validator controls
Flowra has introduced the Programmable Block Policy alongside the auction, allowing validators to define transaction inclusion policies at the block-building layer. This feature provides validators with greater operational flexibility, enabling them to address regulatory and institutional compliance requirements without altering the underlying Solana protocol.
Recently, Flowra announced a partnership with compliance infrastructure provider Honeypot to introduce sanctions and risk screening capabilities at the block-building layer. The policy system empowers validators to oversee block construction while ensuring verifiability and auditability.
Flowra draws inspiration from Ethereum’s block-building model
Flowra’s architecture is influenced by the competitive block-building model that originated on Ethereum. Ethereum.org describes a proposer-builder separation structure, where block builders submit bids and validators select the most profitable offer. Flowra believes that Solana’s high-throughput, low-latency design can support a similar market-based approach.
