Stablecoin payments, not trading, drove Tron past 400 million accounts

Tron has surpassed 400 million total accounts as of August 23, with the most recent 100 million wallets added in just 16 months.

Currently, the network handles more than half of all $USDT in circulation.

Tron processes 51.4% of all circulating $USDT

The growth from 300 million to 400 million accounts occurred between April 12, 2025, and August 23, 2026.

The genesis block of the chain was launched on June 25, 2018, and it took four years to reach the first 100 million accounts. The milestone of 200 million accounts was achieved on December 7, 2023.

Since its inception, Tron has processed over 15.2 billion transactions, with a total transfer volume of approximately $30 trillion. TRON DAO’s release even claims the figure to be over $29 trillion.

The information regarding the 400 million accounts and Justin Sun’s statements originate from a press release by TRON DAO.

Tron now accounts for 51.4% of all $USDT in circulation, with a market cap of $94.2 billion this week, witnessing a $3 billion increase in a single day as per Tronscan data.

The network represents 52% of the global volume in low-value transfers of $USDT, typically utilized for retail payments and international remittances.

Tron has maintained an average of 4.64 million active accounts over the last 30 days, with some days in August exceeding 5 million and welcoming approximately 170,000 new addresses daily.

Ethereum still leads in daily activity and DeFi

Despite having 400 million accounts, Tron is ahead of older and larger networks in terms of raw account count.

Ethereum boasts around 500,000 daily active addresses, surpassing the approximately 350,000 on the Bitcoin network. Ethereum continues to dominate the DeFi sector.

TRON DAO has highlighted indications of institutional interest by becoming a part of the S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index and partnering with Anchorage Digital, Securitize, and Bitnomial.

Tron Inc., the network’s corporate treasury arm, recently acquired an additional 145,199 $TRX at an average price of $0.3444, bringing its total holdings to 711.5 million $TRX, valued at approximately $245 million.

$TRX is currently trading at $0.3357, showing a 1.1% decrease for the day but a 1% increase for the week, with a market cap of $31.87 billion.

“Going from zero to 400 million users in just over 8 years is truly remarkable. The rapid growth of the TRON ecosystem is amazing to witness,” expressed Tron Founder Justin Sun on X.
