Crypto Exchange Bitget Confirms $351,600,000 Hot Wallet Breach, Abruptly Suspends Withdrawals

A prominent cryptocurrency exchange has confirmed a significant security breach involving unauthorized transfers from its hot wallets.

The exchange’s security systems detected unusual activity at 18:31 UTC on September 24th, 2026, limited to a portion of its hot wallets, while cold wallets remained secure and the majority of platform assets were unaffected.

Immediate emergency protocols were activated, and law enforcement and on-chain security partners were engaged to address the situation.

“User funds are secure, thanks to Bitget’s User Protection Fund, which currently holds over $464 million. Customer account balances are accurate, and deposits and trading operations are functioning normally,” assured the exchange.

Although most services are operating as usual, withdrawal services have been temporarily suspended for security reasons.

“Withdrawals are on hold as our teams conduct a thorough security review. We have identified and reported the relevant transfer addresses to law enforcement and security partners. We are working diligently to restore withdrawal services safely and promptly,” stated Bitget.

The exchange will provide updates through official channels and refrain from speculating on the attack vector until the investigation is complete.
