Kraken has introduced its Unified Wallet to eligible clients in the European Economic Area, allowing them to consolidate their crypto holdings for spot trading and qualifying Earn balances with futures trading. Users can enable this feature through their Kraken Pro account settings, combining spot, margin, Earn, and futures balances without the need for separate wallets.
The default setting for the Unified Wallet is cross-margin, which means that a losing position can draw on the entire eligible balance in the account. This setup differs from the previous arrangement where spot holdings were kept separate from futures losses.
Kraken announced the availability of the Unified Wallet in the EEA on October 16, 2026, offering more than 40 cryptocurrencies as collateral, along with USD, EUR, and gold (XAU). However, regional restrictions and collateral valuation rules apply, with USDT and DAI having zero collateral value for EEA users.
Users can switch back to separate wallets at any time, but they must first close all derivatives positions and active orders. Balances will then be transferred back to the Main wallet, requiring manual funds transfer to the separate derivatives wallet for new positions.
Overall, the Unified Wallet simplifies the trading experience for Kraken clients in the EEA, providing a centralized platform for managing their crypto assets across different trading strategies.
