According to BlackRock executive Samara Cohen, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are expected to be included in model portfolios by the end of this year and into 2025.
Model portfolios are diversified investment baskets designed by financial advisors, as defined by the financial services firm Morningstar.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Cohen, who serves as BlackRock’s chief investment officer of ETFs and index investments, highlighted that major wirehouses such as Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, and UBS are currently evaluating risk analytics and conducting due diligence on Bitcoin and Ethereum. She emphasized the different roles these two assets play within a portfolio, particularly as diversifiers, and predicted that allocations in model portfolios will provide insight into investor behavior in the near future.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved the launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs in January, with Ethereum ETFs following suit last week.
