Reports suggest that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is set to launch his own cryptocurrency platform.
According to CNBC, Trump has revealed the introduction of The DeFiant Ones crypto platform to his followers on Truth Social in a bid to challenge traditional banks.
Trump emphasized, “For too long, the average American has been at the mercy of big banks and financial elites. It’s time for us to stand together.”
The platform, described by Trump’s son Eric as “digital real estate,” aims to provide decentralized finance (DeFi) as accessible collateral for everyone.
Donald Jr. has been hinting at the platform’s launch and highlighted the importance of DeFi protocols in shaping the future of finance.
He mentioned in an interview that decentralized finance appeals to those overlooked by traditional banking institutions, stating, “We aim to challenge the banking industry’s inequalities. Decentralized finance is particularly attractive to individuals like myself who have been excluded from traditional banking services.”
In a show of support for the crypto industry, Trump was invited to the 2024 Bitcoin Conference in Nashville and later selected BTC advocate Senator J.D. Vance as his vice-presidential running mate.
