Sonic SVM, Gaming Project on Solana Blockchain, Plans $12.8M Node Sale

Sonic SVM introduces its own framework, HyperGrid, designed to create new networks known as “grids” that ultimately connect to the Solana blockchain.

The upcoming sale, set for the week of September 16, will offer 50,000 “HyperFuse nodes” across 20 pricing tiers.

These nodes provide token rewards and enable holders to monitor network activity.

There is speculation about potential future airdrops for node operators, as mentioned in a press release.

Sonic SVM aims to enhance the speed and throughput of the Solana blockchain for gaming purposes, with plans to sell up to $12.8 million worth of validator nodes within HyperGrid, a decentralized framework supporting new application-specific networks.

The sale, scheduled for the week of September 16, marks a milestone in the Solana blockchain ecosystem, offering 50,000 “Hyperfuse nodes” in various pricing tiers. Proceeds will contribute to the project’s treasury for development and grants, according to CEO and co-founder Chris Zhu.

Node sales have gained popularity as a funding method for blockchain projects while promoting network decentralization. Aethir, CARV, XAI Games, and Powerloom are among the projects that have utilized this approach successfully.

This sale follows Sonic SVM’s recent $12 million Series A fundraising, led by Bitkraft and supported by investors such as Galaxy Interactive and Big Brain Holdings.

Purchasers of the nodes will receive token rewards and play a role in securing the HyperGrid network. Nodes can be operated on laptops or cloud servers, allowing operators to monitor the network status, as explained by Zhu.

Sonic SVM’s architecture positions it as a “grid” on the HyperGrid, facilitating transactions on Solana. The HyperGrid framework can support additional networks for gaming or AI applications, similar to Solana’s OP Stack for Ethereum’s layer-2 networks.

Layer-2 networks offer faster and cheaper transactions compared to main blockchains like Solana, making them an attractive scaling solution. The sale presents an opportunity for individuals to acquire Sonic Tokens at a discounted valuation compared to top venture capital firms.

Potential future airdrops for node operators add to the appeal of participating in the network, according to the statement.
