Kyndryl and Microsoft extend cloud partnership

Kyndryl is enhancing its Distributed Cloud offerings to further collaborate with Microsoft’s cloud ecosystem.

This update is aimed at simplifying the management and modernisation of technology infrastructures for businesses, particularly those dealing with hybrid, multicloud, edge, and IoT systems.

The newly introduced services are designed to seamlessly integrate with existing IT environments, eliminating the need for a complete overhaul. Kyndryl’s team will assist organizations in leveraging Microsoft tools such as Azure Arc, Local, and Cloud.

These tools facilitate smoother transitions between environments, asset management across various locations, and scalability of infrastructure without disrupting operations. The objective is to enhance the deployment and operation of applications, especially in areas like virtualisation and virtual desktops.

Microsoft views this as a significant advancement in making its Azure tools more practical in real-world applications.

The expanded Kyndryl services cater to a wide range of industries. In retail, they support digital signage, AI video, asset tracking, and real-time promotions. In manufacturing and energy sectors, they enable projects like digital twins, predictive maintenance, and anomaly detection. In healthcare, they offer assistance in patient care through AR-assisted surgery, AI-based image analysis, and secure 5G for hospital data systems.

Three key focus areas underpin the offering:

  • Centralised security and operations.
  • Accelerated app development and scaling.
  • Unified data management: Tools like Azure Fabric allow teams to consolidate data from diverse sources, execute AI models, and manage devices from a centralized platform.

Since 2021, Kyndryl and Microsoft have been collaborating closely. The updated toolset leverages Kyndryl’s cloud operations expertise alongside Kubernetes and Microsoft’s software stack, including Azure Arc and the upcoming Windows Server 2025.

Recent financial reports from Kyndryl indicate a profitable performance and an increase in stock value. The company was also recognized as a Leader in IDC’s 2025 MarketScape for hybrid IT consulting and integration services, acknowledging its commitment to customer support.
