NTT DOCOMO, INC announced the successful outdoor demonstration of real-time transceiver systems with AI-powered wireless technology for 6G mobile communications. The collaboration with NTT, Nokia Bell Labs, and SK Telecom resulted in a 100% throughput improvement compared to conventional methods, doubling communication speed.
The use of AI in wireless communications optimizes modulation and demodulation schemes based on radio conditions, ensuring stable communication across various scenarios. Field trials in outdoor environments confirmed the technology’s ability to maintain performance despite changing radio conditions.
Throughput performance was evaluated in different outdoor settings, showing significant improvements in communication speed. The AI-AI technology showcased its effectiveness in complex outdoor environments, a crucial step towards practical 6G systems with high transmission efficiency and low power consumption.
DOCOMO will continue refining the technology and collaborating with global partners to advance 6G standardization. The technology will be featured at the NTT R&D FORUM 2025, demonstrating its potential in shaping the future of wireless communication.
