Wells Fargo Says SpaceX IPO Could Propel One Stock Sector in 2026 – And It’s Not Tech

Wells Fargo, a prominent financial institution, predicts that the public debut of SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, could have a significant impact on the communications sector in the upcoming year.

During a recent interview with CNBC, Mark Smith, a senior vice president and portfolio manager at Wells Fargo Advisors, expressed his belief that the initial public offering (IPO) of SpaceX will contribute to the growth of the communications industry in 2026, mainly due to the ongoing mergers within the sector.

“The consolidation we have witnessed in the communication services sector this year will undoubtedly lead to its resurgence. The prevailing theme of consolidation has been unprecedented, resulting in numerous mergers that are poised to enhance profit margins.

Furthermore, the upcoming IPOs, such as SpaceX, are expected to act as catalysts for the sector’s advancement in the following year.”

Smith emphasized that SpaceX’s impact on the communication sector will surpass that of the tech industry, attributing this to the revolutionary role of SpaceX’s satellites in transforming communication services.

“The innovative use of satellites and related advancements will reshape the traditional landscape of communication services over the next decade.”

While SpaceX has not yet announced an official IPO date, it is anticipated to occur in the latter half of 2026, with a projected valuation exceeding $1 trillion.
