In an exciting development, two major players in the tech industry, Oracle and Google, have announced their collaboration in cloud services. The partnership will see the two clouds interconnecting in 11 regions around the world, including Sydney, Melbourne, São Paulo, Montreal, Frankfurt, Mumbai, Tokyo, Singapore, Madrid, London, and Ashburn.
One of the key highlights of this collaboration is Oracle’s plan to collocate its database hardware and software in Google’s datacenters, starting in North America and Europe. This move will allow joint customers to easily deploy, manage, and utilize Oracle database instances on Google Cloud without the need to retool applications.
The joint service, which will be marketed under the name Oracle Database@Google Cloud, will offer a range of Oracle services such as Oracle Exadata Database Service, Oracle Autonomous Database Service, and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC). These services are set to launch later this year in four regions: US East, US West, UK South, and Germany Central, with more regions planned for the future.
